Business to Business networking events have expanded. The annual Business Appreciation Dinner is held during the Parade of the Hills on the Tuesday, prior to the Wednesday kick off of the festival, during the third week of August.

In March of 2004, the Nelsonville Area Chamber held the first Business Recognition Dinner and Business Expo. The annual spring Business Dinner and Expo offers a great opportunity to showcase your business during the Expo; bring in new members, as well as renew friendships with long time members. Expo table spaces are made available to those Chamber members wanting to have a display. Businesses are recognized with awards and Chamber project updates are shared. Business recognition and updates on the progress of the Chamber are shared at this spring time dinner, held at the Inn at Hocking College.

In 2005, the Business Recognition Dinner and Expo was held in January. However, future dates for this annual spring event will be given in the Chamber Newsletter.

In addition to the Spring and Fall dinners, the Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce has great success with Quarterly Luncheons. They are held at various businesses, with guest speakers, and a delightful luncheon menu. The luncheons begin at noon and conclude by 1:30 p.m., and are announced in the Chamber newsletter.

In 2004, the Chamber began investigating group insurance plans, and were able to offer its members a chance to receive Workers Compensation in a group plan.

Small businesses as well as those long time Chamber member businesses may want to revisit their Worker's Compensation benefits and check into what the Chamber's group plan can offer.

In June 2005, the Chamber board members voted to include AFLAC Supplemental Insurance coverage for chamber members at a group discount.

Discounts in advertising have been offered to Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce members, in publications such as the Hocking Hills Tourism Guide, and Athens Visitor's Guide. The Chamber also uses radio advertising to promote special events throughout the year.

The First Map Project of the Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce -- begun in the fall of 2004 and finished at the end of April 2005. The Chamber's first attempt at providing visitors a physical map to guide them to the Public Square and Chamber Businesses throughout the city became a reality.

The Chamber Map includes a regional map area showing Events and Attractions; Hocking College's Campus; detailed Business District around the Public Square; a list of every Nelsonville Chamber Business and phone number; also includes a historic tour of various sites to visit around Nelsonville. The map is currently available online to Hocking College students through their website, and is also available on the Nelsonville Area Chamber of Commerce Website. It can also be printed from the website to fit on a regular 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper.

Nelsonville Visitors Center, opened in April 2005, located on the first floor of the Rocky Outdoor Gear Store, near the Boot Factory Grill. Chamber businesses can provide information to the Visitors Center for distribution and can showcase their business items at the Visitor's Center. Contact Kevin Dotson at Rocky for more information.
