Nelsonville-York City Schools serves northern Athens county in Ohio representing the communities of Nelsonville, Buchtel, Carbon Hill, Murray City, and Ward Township of Hocking County. The district has three buildings on one central campus. A K-6 elementary school that serves approximately 800 students. Nelsonville-York Middle School houses grades 7 & 8 and serves 200+ students while Nelsonville-York High School is a 9-12 institution with an enrollment of 350+ students.
